compression

is 125 on the front rotor and 120 on the rear rotor good for compression without the throttle open. The motor is suppose to have 30k on a professional rebuild, oil pressure also runs to almost the max on the gauge most of the time. do you guys think it was really rebuilt or a line of shit to sell it. the car has 125k on it.

sounds good

Roy James May 13, 2002 07:53 PM

with 125K, that sounds like pretty good compression man. isnt there someway to check to see of that is the motor that came in the car? serial numbers or some shit? of course that wont work of the motor that was in there was just rebuilt, but it might get you somewhere, either way man, that is a good motor as long as the other seals such as coolant and oil seals are still good. Have fun with it, and give it hell

the motor has markings at all ot the joints like where the water neck goes to the housing, or the intake joints.
does the compression sound good if the motor is supposed to have 30k on it.

Compression sounds really good. How about more info on the car, and the rebuild if you have it.

it is a burgundy 88 gxl with 90' gxl rims, taillights, mirrors, and soon the intake from it. the rebuild was supposedly built by a mazda shop, but i don't know. my exhaust is straight to the bumper with one thrush 24" glasspack on the mainpipe, loud but fast, also shoots fire out pipes at night.

Funklord May 14, 2002 05:29 AM

be careful with glasspacks, they are not a good idea on rotaries because of the high exhaust temps

88'gxln/a May 14, 2002 07:42 AM

yeah it is just to get me by till i get a new job, and buy a borla exhaust hopefully.

I've got glasspacks on the TII (came with the car) and they sound pretty good. It's about 12% louder than the HKS exhaust on my convertible.

Bambam7 May 14, 2002 12:39 PM

12%? What, no decimal place? What hapened to
precision?
Geez... goin downhill....

j/k

mazdaspeed7 May 14, 2002 12:51 PM

Funklord, what are you talking about? Glasspacks have NO negative effects on a rotary. They just dont last more than a few weeks, at most. Mine lasted 2 weeks before all the fiberglass was gone. And glasspacks sound good.....for the 2 weeks the fiberglass packing is still there.
