Well I build a 2nd gen in 2001 and I had to sell due to my first born son arriving soon and I needed the money so I sold it . It was a gxl body with a complete power train swap. Engine and tranny, driveshalf, rear end all turbo 2. Now I’m older and a successful entrepreneur that wants to get back into rotary. But I notice its gotten way harder to get parts. So my question is should I find a na and swap a turbo 2 engine with na tranny? Definitely going full stand-alone this time

While an NA should be easier to find, I think you would be better off just searching until you find a reasonably complete T2 and start from there. That way you'll have the more robust drive train parts; you really don't want to run a high HP/torque turbo motor with an NA transmission if you don't have to.

I agree. If you've already done a complete TII powertrain swap onto an NA (OP), you know that it ends up being more money than just buying a TII outright. I'd look into getting a nice running TII.

i do remember the project being a little pain in the butt. Now it’s time to hunt down a t2. Thanks for your advise guys

I agree with the above. Finding a nice TII is not a terrible challenge and you will already have the base of everything you want. Keep us updated with what you get!!

Found a t2 1988 for $7000. Dead engine needs rebuild or new engine. Tell me what you think?
