Cold startup engine stall

The car: "88 S4 GXL

Mods: All emmissions removed and blocked off, RB road race exhaust, Apexi S-afc (not tuned). Anything else is irrelevant.

Problem: Engine Stalls after warmup idle when engine is cold. Revs go up, come down normally but never stops or slows its deceleration, just keeps going lower stalling it. All mods were done over a year ago with no problems. Problem started a month ago, checked every vaccum hose I could see and nothing was found.

Have any of you seen this happen before?
If not, I will start doing diagnostics using the idle problem sticky thread.

Thanks.

There was a thread on this a while back, everyone that said they had the problem, also said that a new set of plugs cured it. How old are your plugs?

new set of plugs and possibly a fuel pump I have had this happen on my z before it starts and the idle just gets lower and lower. It sometimes means that your pump is not putting out enough fuel pressure.

its just normal...do you run 20_50??? the reason y it stalls becuae the oil is too thick when its cold hence cold stall. you just have to keep in first of jeep it alive by giving it lil rev's

I will check my plugs first, they have about 30k on them.
Fuel delivery might be it too, I will see about changing the fuel filter as I dont recall if it has been done yet on this car. But the oil viscosity is 10w30 and is the same as the two previous years without this problem.

I did forget to mention one important thing... to keep it from stalling, all I have to do is touch the gas pedal for a milisecond before the revs start going down, barely enough to notice the rev change, and then it runs normally.

Thanks for your input. :icon_tup:

This would happen to me on my old 86 SE EVERY Once in a while. I just blipped the throttle at startup and never really worried about it. Its habit now!
