Cold Start System
Since the search has been disabled, I have to ask a stupid newbie question. :-)
At what temperature does the cold start assist become necessary? My car almost never sees temps below 20 degrees. Do I need this on my car? Thanks |
I believe there was a technical service bullitin from mazda saying the cold-start system needs to be disabled for 2nd gens.
|
do you have the link for proceedure purposes?
|
No i don't have a link sorry. Do you have a manual?
|
ya, guess I could follow that. I have a hayes guide, but not a Mazda manual
|
just unplug the connector at the reservoir. That ought to do it.

www.iluvmyrx7.com has the Factory Service Manual available for dl. By section. It has the same diagrams as the Haynes manual. Only there are *more* diagrams and the language is a lot clearer. The dl is free.
Btw, if the cold start isn't giving you any hassles, maybe it would be best to leave it alone. Nixing it might unintentionally open a can of worms... ttyl, Amur_ http://www.chronicsite.com/gatchaman/images/Ken.gif |
The cold assist doesn't come into play until it's below 0F. But i'd bet since it's used so little the pump is frozen anyway, mine was (84 GSL-SE), BUT no disabling required :)

hey amur, is there another site that has the 1986 rx7 factory service manual? That one doesn't link.

Yeah, he doesn't have all the ones he'd like to. Yet. The 1988 FSM should be virtually identical to the '86 and perfectly usable. My 7 is an '86 I've been using the '88 FSM from that site without any problems. ttyl, Amur_ |
cool, thanks
