"Cold Air-box".........
Does anyone in the Austin-Waco-Temple (Central Texas) area know where I could get an air box manufactured for my 91 Rx-7? I want to do the K&N filter swap and remove that factory shit box......The local welders I've spoken with either do not want to do it, can't do it, or want to charge me by the hour with $25 minimum non-refundable fee......anyway, would really like a "cold air" box in place rather than the restrictive factory one.
Thanx.......... |
Not to sure what the question is about a cold air box but you can get a cold air intake from a local Place in TX http://www.rx7.com/cgi-local/2catalog.cgi?cat=7&part=1
That should take you to the page |

Mariah Motorsports makes one. I used to have a link to a pic of it from their website, but I can't find it, and I can't find a link to it on their website. But you can look for it at http://www.mariahmotorsports.com/

Damn, I'm almost at the same situation as you...
I would like to completely remove all the boxes, hoses etc etc, drop in a huge cone filter, rig up some sort of cold-air box (home-made of course :D ), and then send fresh air in there from every place possible (the stock intake tube, FTP cover, below the bumper with some sort of tube, the airduct on the lense cover, anything). But, until I have everything figured out, I wont try anything...;) |

Nah, just go here http://www.fc3s.org/ and check out the Cold Air box. Not so good looking (with some work you can make it look perfect), but it seems to get the job done :D
With this setup, and some sort of inlet duct on the hood (right above the filter), you could reap huge benefits :D. Going to try this as soon as I can find a decent hood duct for a moderate price :) ....oh I forgot, I have to buy the cone filter as well...:D |

Hey, check out also this very cool box, which I think is made of very hard insulation foam-plastic or something similar...The kind of stuff you would find in a tools shop. Looks a lot better, but may be harder to manufacture yourself.

...damn pictures :o
Just e-mail me to send them to you... |
I have made a box for my k&n filter that is sealed and has 3- 1.5 inch dia hoses that draw air from the air dam.
If you are interested i'll send you pics e-mail jeff91121@home.com |
