Code and Fuel Issue
Car: 1990 S5 NA Vert<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p> Decided to run codes on the car and came up with a Code 26 which from Reteds site (FC3SPro) that is the MOP (Step Motor). I assume this would mean that the MOP/OMP has gone bad?<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> I am not sure if these two problems might go hand and hand but I also seem to not be getting any fuel all of a sudden. Fuel is getting from the back to the fuel lines as I have done tests to rule out the pump and filters but it doesn't seem to be getting any fuel into the motor. I even tried to just hold down the gas pedal to push fuel into the motor and when I pulled the plug it was as dry as the moment it was installed. Would the code 26 be causing this issue as well or would they be 2 separate problems? <o:p></o:p> Thanks! |
You're in limp mode. When the S5 OMP fails, your car gets stuck in this mode until you can fix it. It won't let you do anything that would damage the internals due to no oil. Unfortunately, this also means the car will barely move. I'm not entirely familiar with all that goes on to make this happen, but I'd guess that the voltage to the fuel pump is cut due to a much lower fuel need.

On a series five, holding the pedal to the floor while Starting, cuts fuel to the injectors. Duh.

If the fuel pump isn't running, check to make sure the ENGINE fuse is good or not.
Fuel pump runs if the engine is running. Fuel pump runs if the key is HELD to START. Fuel pump does NOT run by putting the key to ON. Fuel pump runs if the fuel pump check connector is coupled and the key is ON. |

Limp mode does not effect the injectors working (at least not at idle/start and low rpms.
A bad ENGINE fuse will cause a lack of fuel being injected. But yours must be good because you say the pump works. The ECU pulses a gnd to each injector for it to work. The EGI fuse must be good for that to happen. IF it's good, then check for the power from the EGI fuse at the injector AT the ECU and see if power is getting to the ECU to power it up. Generally, if you have Spark, the fuel injectors will also inject. Both work off the signal from the CAS to the ECU. Got one, should have the other. |
