code 11

ok. i just pulled a code 11 on my 91 vert. ((intake air thermosensor (engine) / broken wire, short circuit))

it is saying it is on the engine side of the connections i guess, where is this? can someone give me a general area to look in and what it sort of looks like? i need to pass smog and this error is stopping me.

thanks

the sensor is located on the driverside rear of the intake manifold. its a 2 pin connector.

According to the picture I'm looking at in my factory workshop manual, it's right near the end of the dynamic chamber, where it meets the upper intake. Closer to the firewall.

And since I'm such a nice guy, I went outside and looked. It's right near a ground wire. Up above the oil filter. Simple two pronged connector.

Measure the resistance:

77 degrees F - 33 +/- 4 kohms
185 degrees F - 3.5 +/- 0.4 kohms

That's also according to the factory.

Hope that helps.

Damn, see what happens when I take five minutes to type a reply? :D

wait a min you can check codes on a s5 ecu??

JerryLH3 11-15-02 08:40 PM

Yup, there's a green one pin connector by the leading coil, just ground it to the chassis, turn the ignition to ON, and watch the check engine light "flash" the codes.

A long flash is "10," short flash "1." Add them up for each code. There's like a 3 second break between codes. Then it repeats them over and over.

can this also be done for the s4?
