Clutch switch what does it do?
Reading through some of my manuals just wondering what the clutch switch is for. The reason I ask is my clutch pedal has a hole in it where the rod for the clutch switch sites through. So the switch is never depressed. However when you move the clutch and let it go the angle slightly touches the switch depressing it 1/4th or so before it pops through the hole.

how do u start your car? because the clutch switch needs to be depressed to start it...
but of course, that can be bypassed |
The other clutch switch not that one. For a side note I bypassed that switch anyhow.

The Cruise Control uses the clutch switch also. Just like the brake pedal, if you depress the clutch while in CC mode on the highway it will switch to manual mode.
|
also I think the shift light uses it

shift light?

There are two switches on the clutch pedal. One is for the cruise control, and the ECU (neutral safety input) the other is for the Start lock out (found on the 87 and later models). |
It must be the cruise controll. Do not have CC maybe that is why the pedel has a hole in it but oh well just curious.
