Clutch Slave Problem...

So my girl was driving home form work yesterday, as as she got down our street she was having a heel of a time getting the car in gear and the clutch pedal dropped all the way to the floor.

Get it home and start checking for leaks and problems, to find out the clutch slave rod is pushed all the way foward holding the fork in the unengaged position. I had to pry it back and pulled the slave out.

the rod was not connected to the slave and fell along with the boot when I pulled it out.

Any ideas y this could happen.

I replaced my master cylinder and slave and bled the line. Started getting good pressure pumped the clutch a few time and it was holding strong then all of a sudden crack, the slave rod popped and is stuck in full length position again.

It looks like it blew the guts out of the slave cylinder too.

What the hell?????

Any help would be appreciated...

Sounds like there's something up in or around the fork area. Probably need to pull the transmission out and investigate.

Sounds like your throw out bearing has kicked rocks, and possibly your fork as well.

This is how the slave works, its not a problem.

True, but...

that's not! Assuming everything is properly assembled (kind of hard to mess this up) he's either looking at a bent clutch fork, damage to the pivot point, throwout bearing damage, pressure plate damage, etc.

probably broke the fork pivot, it is not an uncommon problem for FCs. you may be able to see it in turbo tranny applications by removing the inspection cover or the starter in n/a applications with a mirror.

True, it just sounded to me like the OP thought the rod was supposed to be connected to the slave. Its not, so that itself is not a problem.

Oh yeah. I knew what you were saying, I just wanted to clarify for the OP's sake.
