Clutch Master Cylinder
ok,stil a noob to rx7 mechanics...and car mechanics in general..i took autobody in school...ya that was a friggin waste of a few years...but at least i can paint well...moving on
ya i wanna pick up a friends rx7..but he says the CMS is dead on it...he said the car tuns on and blah blah blah..but the clutch pedal drops right to the ground! is this a CMS...and if so how hard is it to replace? and whare exactly is it on the rx7? |
Could be the master or slave cyl. If one is bad always replace both as if the seals have rotted out in one, the other can not be far behind.
The master cyl is bolted onto the firewall next to the brake master, and the slave cyl is mounted to the top of the tranny. |
To get to the 12mm clutch master mounting nuts, it's best if you have a deep well socket and a swivel on the socket wrench extension.
|
even being a noob you should be able to swap both out in no longer than an hour... you'll need 12mm deepwell socket for firewall nuts and slave mounting bolts, 10mm wrench for clutch line on the CMS and 8mm wrench for line on the slave... you'll need a small bottle of brake fluid, vacuum line or brake bleeding kit, and that's it... also bench bleed the CMS too, makes bleeding the system WAY easier and about half the time.. also grab a friend too... so they can pump the clutch pedal when bleeding the system..

can some one explain to me how to bench bleed a CMS or a BMS?
|
ya i second pinfield357
cuz i got no clue |
Try it out first, don't believe what someone says, also just add fluid then pump it... or just replace it they're not too expensive or hard to replace...There is a bleeder on the slave cylinder. Then tell him to knock $50 off because of this. Make sure its not a clutch mechanical problem.
It seems that my master cylinder is leaking? but I don't know where. (no spills under the hood) I replaced the slave cylinder thinking that was my problem when I put the clutch disk in backwards... :o I didn't see any differnece between the front and back so I just put it on, and I rebuilt my own engine.;) It still has clutch problems. After not driving it for a week the first time I push in the cluch it stays on the floor(just pull it back up), and I have ran it out of fluid a few times. I just add more and it comes back. But I'm getting a new master cylinder sometime soon, because its tedious. Good luck |
thanks,,and the cars only liek 300 bux,im not even gunan try to negotiate a cheaper procxe,he just wants it outta his yard

Where is a good source for a Quality Master and Slave cyclider replacement?
Should I just get the one from Advanced Auto: MC $75, SC: $45 I've heard that Tokico is better, but don't know where to get them from??? Thanks!! :icon_tup: |
I just had the same problem on my FC, I got my slave and master online at ebay. there are some decent prices there.
