clutch going? (searched)

When i push the clutch pedal to the floor it feels a little looser, kind of spongey, and i cant put the car into first or second, havent tried putting into a higher gear yet. I can force the car into first but that requires a lot of effort and when i do the transmission grinds. Do i need a new clutch or is it a different problem?

Maybe there's just some air in it... :)

Ya, sounds like theres air in the system. happend to me yesterday

Cobra_R 01-25-05 05:59 PM

ok so i popped the hood, with the car off, and noticed theirs no fluid in the clutch fluid reservoir, is that the problem, also i can get my car in gear when the engine is off, but not when it's on.

amishboy 01-25-05 06:21 PM

Ya thats the problem .

amishboy 01-25-05 06:22 PM

Every RX-7 I've had has been like that not bad enough to do something about but bad enough I always keep brake fluid with me .

Cobra_R 01-25-05 06:26 PM

hey thx, first off, what kind of fluid should i use, and secondly, when i put the fluid in, i go up to the second line on the cylinder right, after i put the fluid in is their anything else i have to do, or do i just pour it in their.

amishboy 01-25-05 06:34 PM

Well use brake fluid and ya I put mine to the second line .

amishboy 01-25-05 06:35 PM

You may not have to bleed it just pump it 10 or 15 times and see .

amishboy 01-25-05 06:36 PM

If you do have to bleed it the screw is on top of the transmision at the end if the hose just follow it over .

Cobra_R 01-25-05 06:41 PM

so after pumping it 10 or 15 times how can i tell if i have to bleed it?

amishboy 01-25-05 06:44 PM

It will work or not you should be able to tell by how it feels also .

Cobra_R 01-25-05 06:49 PM

yea thought so, thx a lot.

Air bubbles will stop coming out of the hose.
