Clutch fan always on

The other day i was going to take my FC for a ride but right before i took it out the garage i looked at my guages and my temp was going up where i didnt feel comfortable so i decided not to take it out that day. the next day i took the fan out because it was working really weak. i took 2 1/12 screws and put them throug the clutch so that it would always be on. I want to know how good is this for my car, idont whant something stupid to happen but it is keeping my temp where im comfortable. does this slow the car down alot or little. it makes a lot of noise too. what do you think?

wont really hurt anything, but not a great thing to do. only takes a couple horsies to run the fan.

for your situation its not a bad idea at all. it will rob you of some power but not so much as to make the car slugish (better to loose a little power and run cool than to over-heat!). just get a new clutch for the fan and you'll be good as new.

dnt leave it this way for too long though, at higher rpm's the extra load of having the fan locked will make the belts slip and wear out much quicker. also, this is a good time to think about switching to an e-fan.

the fan is not ment to run over 4000rpm or so. it starts to slip then. reving the engine past 4000 will probably lead to problems.

I would be concerned about water pump bearing wear when doing this. Those screws you installed might throw the assembly out of balance.
