Clicking noise from the caliper

I have a clicking noise coming from my front calipers, more on the driver's side. The more I press the pedal the more clicks I get. I took out the pads on the driver's side and noticed there were no shims installed. The 3 anti rattle clips are there however. Also the pistons had a lot of rust on them.

No problems with the brakes besides the rotors being warped. What could this be? Lack of shims? Worn out calipers?

if the caliper was "worn out" you would know it!..it would leak!..the Rotor is warped,so it hits the pads With NO shims and it hits the Cup of the Caliper..REMEDY?..get new shims so that the Pads don't Rattle and new hardware so the pads Retract away from the Rotor..OH,and get a new rotor too!

i agree. look into getting all shims for the caliper, replace the caliper if needbe. also, whenever you get rotor warpage, your brakes will feel weird, make weird sounds, and possibly lead to catastophic failure (seen it when i worked for a toyota dealership)

my vert does the same thing at slow speeds. apon further investigation i found that it was just the pads shifting around (a difinate circle where the piston touches the backing of the pad) hope this helps.

K, thanks. I'm going to be doing a brake overhaul soon (hawk pads, stock rotors, SS lines, DOT 4 fluid, new brake hardware, master cylinder) and I was unsure of whether to add rebuilt calipers to the list.

I have this same thing, except you can also feel the clicking through the brake pedal.

My brake pads still have a ways to go... I'm thinking it's the brake pad shifting around.. any solutions?

I can feel mine with the brake pedal too and my pads have more than 60% life left. I had hawk pads before that only lasted 5k until the clicking started, I replaced them with factory ones and found stress cracks and chips on the pads. The clicking went away for like 7k miles and now its back. I'd start by checking your brake hardware.

my driver's front caliper makes the clicking noise when stopping, close to completely stopped . . . it pisses me off

have you tried lubing up the slots where the brakes glide? thats a common tell tell sign of brake sticking.

peace
