Clear windshield washer fluid
 

On my cousin's new BMW, I noticed that they used windshield washer fluid that are clear in color. So when you use it, it wont leave a color marks on the hood or the roof (my car is white). The problem with them is that they are like 5 or 6 dollars a gallon. Do you guys know any other brand that carry clear windshield washer fluid?

No not water, I know you people will try to say something like that.....

Oh yeah, dont ever use those 60 cents washer fluid. They froze on me this winter...

actually, i sold my BMW M3 just last september and bought a lexus LS400 but while i owned the BMW, the dealer specifically told me not to use those washer fluids and instead to use filtered water. i think the washer fluids contain alcohol or something that can eat the rubber on the wiper blades which causes them to deteriorate and wear prematurely. the filtered water leaves no deposits in the resovior nor on your nozle(like soo many cars with the white residue on the wiper nozle-which clogs the nozle eventually causing the odd spray) and also the filtered water does not leave spots on your car or glass.....like rain water hehe no spots.
hope that sheds some light on the situation...i think the main thing is the chemicals in the washer fluid eat the rubber etc...

Pure water (besides easily frozen) has the drawback of allowing the growth of algae in a vented system, on any dust or other containments in the bottle.

Pure water would only work in a sealed washer system not found on any RX-7

i figured there would be differnt probs for the REX...oh well, maybe something with less corrosive values
