cleaning my wire harness plugs?
 

sometimes my air pump didnt pump air into the exhaust at idle causing a rough idle and a stoich A/f reading on my A/F guage. found that alot of my connectors under the hood are corroded pretty bad. i was checking out the ones that connect to the ACV. they were ofcourse corroded, so i figure this would explain the intermittant problem. what is the best way to clean this crap off the connecters?

1. The airpump air does not go into you intake ...so it can not cause idle problems.

2. The exception to 1 above is when under deceleration the anti afterburn valve IN the ACV momentarily lets air into the intake tract. Momentarily being the key word.

3. If air is being put into your intake by the acv during idle.....the acv is bad.

4. A air fuel gauge would read RICH not Stoic if air was not being put into the exaust ports at idle.

5. Neither solenoidl on the acv has squat to do with air being dumped into the exaust ports at idle. The Port Air solenoid is disabled after 20,000 miles and the Split Air solenoid only puts air into the SPLIT AIR PIPE when you are in fifth gear.

5. A series four will not put air in the exaust ports at idle when the water temp is cold. It will only put it there after the water temp switch is *made*, i.e the water has warmed up. That's the function of the Water Temp Switch in the bottom of the radiator.

6. The Relief and the Switching solenoids control the ACV at idle and most all the time wth exceptions.

7. BOTTOM LINE.....The airpump and acv should not have ANY effect on the idle of your car...unless the acv is busted./ bad or ineffective gasket on the acv.

about cleaning the connectors there are specific cleaning sprays for electronics, the one's I've used do a pretty good job of getting rid of the corrosion
