Clarifying 5th/6th port questions

OK, I read all the 5th/6th port threads and here is my conclusion please just let me know if I drew the right conclusion.

I have a '91 N/A engine. I have no air pump, which means my 5th/6th port will not open and if i do not impliment a electronic air pump to activate them (fc3s.org instructions) soon they may seez like this. My only other option is wiring them open or getting pinapple inserts.

Correct?

Pineapple inserts won't change the fact that they'll still be not functioning properly. It's best to just use the airpump to keep them going, or try the electronic activiations (although people tend to burn out pumps/etc with such)

If you don't wanna run your airpump and are going to wire them open, do what I did and remove the actuators/sleeves/rods/etc, basically everything that has to do with the sleeves and them opening. Then tap the hole and put a bolt in it, that way the ports will be open all the time and the tiny restriction of the sleeves will be gone. The resrtriction really only happens on highly modded or ported engines, though, so don't think it'll give you more power.

Pineapple inserts are only for a working 6 port
system. You can wire them open but you WILL lose
low end power. Your air pump cools youre cat, and
youre working cat will send midrange back pressure
to open the 5 and 6 port. If you do not have
emissions your best bet is to get a racing beat
header and presilencer, which will make backpressure
to open your 5 and 6 port. Other option is to put
back on the air pump and to make sure you have a
good cat or wire open the six ports[ which in my experience
makes the car feel slower]

Close...

The air pump injects air into the cats to help burn off debris and keep them from getting clogged.

The S4's use exhaustr backpressure to open the 6 ports. The S5's, which is what this guy has, use the air pump to open the 6-ports. Without the airpump, he will have to either leave them open or use some other means.

Ok i have decided to go with full electronic as instructed here:
http://www.fc3s.org/how_tos/electrical/6_ports.html

I now have one mroe question. he instructs to use the power plug from the AAS for a switched 12v source. I dont have AAS since I have a base model sooooo.... what other source can I use? I thought of wiring straight to the battery but i realized it would be on all the time and kill my battery.

Ignition through a relay with a fuse.
