checking my coolant seals
i'm suspecting my coolant seals are starting to go so i did a little test. i took the egi fuse out and cranked it with the rad cap off and coolant topped. i cranked it for about 8 seconds. the coolant remained relatively still at first but did start to spill out just a tiny bit. is that normal?
heres a vid i took http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__VVb6lJTfY |
was the engine warmed up when you did this?
do you have to warm your car up before you test? i'm just curious.
im curious as well. Also how does this test if ure seals are bad. I know ppl are doing it but what occurs inside the engine when the seals are bad that cause the coolant to overflow from the cap?
supposedly Compression from the Internals is to make it's way By the Bad coolant seal, and thereby Putting Air into the Cooling system.if it really Erupts you know you have a problem..
If your car is not warmed up the thermostat is closed so no air/coolant can get through so it will defeat the purpose I believe. Im not 100% sure, someone correct me if im wrong.
yes you are correct the thermostat must be open and engine warmed up for this test to be properly done
