Cheapest source for intercoolers(not kits)

Anyone know of any good, yet inexpensive sources for IC's? I have a starion one now and want to upgrade it to something better, like a Spearco, Blitz, HKS, Apex, Greddy, or any small companies with a good product. I need one around 2.5"x20x10.

Well I'm not sure of what you have where you live, but there are tons of wrecked imports that go to the junk yard and have EXPENSIVE ICs on them that you can get for like $100 here in Austin Tx. I saw a HUGE Greddy From a side swipped Supra go for $90. I would say Salvage yards. But you could get screwed unless you know what to look for in a good or broken ic. I know I don't.

i think some places will sell just cores, and not whole kit
if i remember right, you can probably get a blitz/greddy/whatever core for ~500

Yeah I have a good welder so a core would work, but I can get a Spearco "Core" for well under 500$. I was hoping for a full unit for around 4-500$

better yet spend 300 bux on a Aquamist kit from summit racing, water injection has many benefits

eh? ebay

Use the ic off that parts car you bought plus another stock one and make your own. Two TII intercoolers in series work pretty damn good.

I bought a used "smaller" (core matches dimension you give closely) Isuzu NPR cab-over truck IC and modified it for top fed inlet/outler and ported out the huge casting bosses in the endtanks while at it. I am using it as a horizontal mount IC (like Panspeed FC in Options Vid #92- even faster than the featured Amemiya FC2000 FC!) for reduced lag and better radiator airflow, but it would fit in a front mount position. I just polished it and shot it w/ 1500 deg clear coat, so I will have post pics on the forum this coming week. NPR ICs are quality pieces made by Tokyo Radiator Co that feature fin in tube construction and low pressure drop and can be had for cheap!

I just did the spearco thang... Being that the greddy one was 2100.00 and the Hks was around 3000.00( I live in Canada with the ever so crappy dollar, thats why the prices may seem out to lunch)..It cost me around 1400-1500 plus piping which was around 200.00.. Not a huge savings, but not bad.. I am pleased with the results, I was out last night and my intake air temps according to my datalog were the same as ambient temperature, so the IC is doing the trick, alot better than the stock one..
But currency differences aside, I think the spearco is very good value for the money..
I have a book that lists the CFM's on the intake side for various diesel trucks, I was looking at the isuzu trucks, not one of their trucks is rated at over 240 cfm on the intake side which made me suspicious of the flow of that core, although Isuzu could be overgenerous with the I/C sizing as well, who knows...Max
