Changing Pulsation damper & Fuel Injectors "PICS"
 

Well.. its time for me to Replace whatever comes first? the Damper or the Injectors? my 90 TII gives out a heavy gasoline smell after cranking the car, I have a picture here with the Intercooler Removed. so my question would be what do i need to "Watch out for" when i remove the "Throttle Body & Surge tank'' any help would be most appriciated...

Our cars must be related, I'm doing the exact same thing right now :D I've never done it before, do you have to remove the TB to get the upper manifold off?

Remove the TB and UIM has one unit together.

Take very good inventory on the vac lines and electrical connections. Use fresh gaskets EVERYWHERE, and make sure you scrape the old gaskets away thoroughly (very important!)

My car didn't run for two months because I had a vac line disconnected that I swear I not only hooked up, but swear to god checked a dozen thousand times.

It's a very straightforward design, though, removing vac lines, electrical connections, then the two support brackets for the surge and the half a dozen bolts holding the UIM and LIM together.

The gas smell is most likely a pulsation dampener, or perhaps a leaky injector seal. It's pretty easy to narrow it down. The PD you can get gas on your hands by touching it. I'd put one of those in regardless of whether or not you need it. #1 cause of engine fires in our rides.

Thanks for the advice... Man do i really need to replace gaskets just to get to the Damper and Injectors? oh well no turning back now.

If you can live without the car for a few days sent your fuel injectors out to be cleaned.

www.cruzinperformance.com does it for around $11 an injector.

The best thing to do while under there is to replace the PD,fuel line, and vac lines.

The vac lines will be VERY brittle and will most likely break. Go buy some good silicone hose(not the Checker color/ricer kit).

The water hose under the UIM is a bitch to get out if it's never been replaced. If you plan to replace that get the long BAC coolant line (from wp) and put it in place of the short 90* hose under the UIM. If you dont plan to change it try and get it out from the TB and then stick an old spark plug in the coolant hose so you dont have to drain your coolant.
