Has anyone ever had to change shifter forks in a turbo car?


My buddy just picked up a Turbo for $1000 and it only needs shifter forks replaced, as they are bent.


Can anyone give me a link to a site, or give a detailed explanation on how to do this?

you mean the fork at the input shaft where the throw-out bearing is at? if that's it, i think it's just taking it out and putting it back in... think there's a little V-clip looking thing behind the fork, just have to slide the fork in the boot and put that v-clip thing into the knob on the clutch housing...

The fork for the slave cylinder is just a clip on, clip off affair. When I changed my t/o bearing, I was a moron, and pulled the fork off to do it. Later I found out it just slides on:rolleyes:

No,,,not the throwout bearing arm.

I am saying the shifting forks are bent, the shifter will allows itself to go between gears and keep goin once its in a gear, and its not the shifter spacers. I have felt that before, but these ones are also gone, I am sure of it.

I wanted to know how to change out the forks, as the shop wants $160 to do this, which isn't bad, but it can't be that hard, for $160. Ya know.

dude $160 is a screaming deal you have to take the entire transmission apart to change the forks. also the forks are cast, so they do not really "bend" there might be something else wrong

The turbo tranny is really tough. If it's not going into gear, it may just be the plastic shift lever bushings are gone.
There are three. Two surround the pivot ball, and there is a smaller one where the bottom of the lever meets the internal actuator.
