Catalytic Converter, Universal

Hey,
I figured you second gen guys would know a little more about cats then the 1st gen guys. I was wondering where I could get a cheap or the cheapest universal catalytic converter for for my exhaust that I'm building. I need it to be 2 inch in/out.
I noticed there were some ones for civics on ebay but I figured for 20 bucks they couldn't have catalysts in them..

Thanks,
-Crispin

So they're's some for eighty on ebay that are universal? I haven't seen them. I see a lot of ones for honda's though. I just type in: Racing Catalytic Converter. And a lot of 20$ ones comes up made of 304 SS.. And I'm pretty sure they prolly don't have catalysts in them. I'll again today. Maybe I'll find something. Lol.

Summit racing. You can search by inlet / outlet size, with / without air tube, etc.

If you need an emission check I recommend getting the biggest catalyst you can find.

I'm afraid you're right. Lol.

Be wary of pricing. When it comes to converters for emissions sake, the cheaper the cat the cheaper the materials and could fail much sooner than one that costs much more. Converter pricing is strictly based on the amount of catalysts within the converter which is a ceramic structure which is coated with expensive metals such as platinum or rhodium. The cheaper the converter the lesser of an area that the catalyst is spread out thus reducing the effectiveness with regards to emissions.

i looked at the $20 ones on ebay and they're not catalytic converters, they're glass pack mufflers... gotta love the idiots that list them as racing catalytic converters when they are just "test pipes".

Yupp. I'm aware of all. I think I'm just going to go back to the stock converter setup, just get some high-flow direct replacement ones from mazdatriz or BDA.
