carborator

is the 87 carborator, or electronic injectors. Wanna know how hard it is to tune the air fuel mixture?

1987RX7guy 09-07-03 05:50 PM

N/a or TII?

First of all they are both fuel injected. You can't change anything about the fuel mix to air with stock ECU. You need a piggy back or a standalone EMS or Fuel controler to change anything. Then you need to run it on a dyno with a wideband or EGT guage.

Why do you want to mess with the AFR?

I was running and testing a car and it was running a little rich. I asked him how I can tune it and he said it was pretty easy. there's a knob in the ecu that I can rotate to tune it. he said it was real easy and he can just show me when I take a look at the car again.

ps. I talked to him about the air fuel ration and tuning it over the phone when I got home.

oh yeah, the car is a 87 TII.

There is no nob on the ECu there is one screw for adjusting the AFR for the idle but you CAN NOT tune the car with that.

It already passed smog just this summer. But lets say that I had to take it for a smog test and it was running a little rich. I can't get it through by messing with that AFR screw?

how much to get a fuel controler?

sorry if I'm coming off as a total illiterate on this.

1987RX7guy 09-07-03 06:29 PM

well you shouldn't have trouble passing emmissions if the car is stock and well running.

What has the car had done to it?

A fuel controller can run you from 200-350 dollars and an EMS would be around 900 dollars for a LT8. This would also need dyno tunning with a good tunner.

other than the rebuilt engine and the thicker apex seals he put on a single thermal exhaust. He said he had to clean the egr. Also he took off the intake box. but he still has it so I can put it back if I wanted to. Also he found out that one of injectors were bad so he had a fuel system calibration done in august. It seemed to run good on the test drive, other than running a little rich. So what do you think?

:rlaugh::rlaugh::rlaugh:

I want one, and I also want an ECU that has an on/off switch on it that say "tuned" "untuned". That way I can change from day to day.

I reall want to know who told you that.
