carbon vs. dynamic backplate?

how can i tell the difference? if it has "a metal spring/washer looking piece in the bottom of the back plate" would this mean its carbon, or is there more to it?
educate me.

talk to bryan at bnr, stock turbos use carbon seals, upgraded turbos use dynamic.
