Car wont turn over...help?
 

I drove the car about two weeks ago and went to start it up this morning and it wouldn't even turn over. This is the first time the key has been in the ignition since i drove it last. The battery is charged, and i have full power to everything.

When i turn the key to start there is nothing. But when i let go and it returns to the ON position i can hear three little clicks. Kinda like a ta-ta-ta, very close together. And it sounds like they are coming from my ABS or something there on the passenger side of the engine bay. I already checked my starter and all wiring connections and have found nothing wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

sounds like the starter died. Try push starting it.

Same thing happened to my S5. Could be starter or flywheel. There are a lot of starter problems with these cars. Starter should cost around 150 bucks at auto parts store, held together with 2 bolts.

try and spin the motor over by hand. If you can't then something is f'd

If you're not hearing a solid, heavy metallic click from the solenoid, that's the first thing I'd be looking at. My car did something similar 2 weeks ago. Turn the key, nothing. Took out the starter, took the solenoid apart, and lo and behold - its plunger was gummed up with years of oily goo which had somehow found its way in there, preventing the plunger from moving when the key was turned. I cleaned the plunger and the inside of the solenoid bore really well, and it's been perfect ever since. Total cost? $0.

ok cool! I will have to check that out nopistons. And if it turns out i have to buy a new starter, i work at Napa autoparts warehouse, so i can get it for cost :). Thanks for the info guys!
