car wont rev past 4300 rpm

i just put my engine back into my 88 N/A and in gear one it slowly revs past 4500 rpm then in every gear after that it just tries to die once it hits around 4300 rpm. But when it is in neutral it seems to rev right up to redline and is very responsive. I am pretty sure the engine is good too. Any ideas of what this could be??

good chance it's an intake leak. does it backfire or anything like that?

how did it run before the engine was out? and why did you pull the engine?

Are you sure its not 3800?

Sounds like your secondaries arent coming online. Can you rev past 4500 if you accelerate VERY SLOWLY?

its actually more around 4000 rpm it starts cutting out, but ya it does sound like the secondaries may not be opening. If this is the problem how might I fix it?
Thanx,
Jason

I would start with the obvious, check the secondary connectors...It that doesnt work I would consider doing the following mod:
