Car wants to idle at 3000 even with slack on cable
Everytime I start this car its revs up to 3k and stays. I tried adjusting the idle screw to the point where it came out and the throatle cable has complete slack on it. Its it stays at 3000 or so which im sure is not good for my rebuild. And theres tons of smoke coming from the turbo which I'm thinking mean that the plug i made on the coolant flow through for the lim is leaking..... fml

Could be the AFM door is stuck open too much, could be a malfunction with the BAC/Air Bypass Valve or the throttle plates are sticking/binding and the CAS might be improperly adjusted.

or stuck thermowax.

Check if the cable is caught on something. Embarrassing but it happened to me.

You're sure this is NOT the factory Accelerated Warmup System?
Have you tried blipping the throttle? |
Check cable adjustment of AWS and your throttle cable... Im sure it may be one of those

Have you tried blipping the throttle? As far as the turbo smoking, what does the smoke smell like? What color is it? If the smoke is white and smells kind of sweet then it's coolant; it could be the coolant feed line or the seal to the LIM or the o-ring between the LIM and the block. Hopefully not the latter, it's a pain to replace that one. If the smoke is blue then it's oil. It could be from a bad seal at the feed line or it could be from greasy hands handling the turbo during your rebuild. It could also be a bad internal seal, but that usually results with smoke coming out of the tail pipe. Hope that helps! |
