car starts up fine then dies...story inside :(

i bought a 91 and i belive its a GXL but im going to go check on it. but the problems is when i start up the car it will start up fine (3k thens drops etc.) but when its droping it will drop all the way and the car dies. it will start up fine again and do the same thing. but when i start it up the 2nd time it would catch it self before it dies but then it will do it again and the car wouldnt be able to catch it self. so what i have to do is rev the car before it hits 0 RPM. also one time when the car was fully warmed up, i rev it high in neurtal then when i let go of the gas it drop to 0 RMP then died. i have no ideal whats wrong. someone pls help
thanks

So if you hold the gas it runs fine? In that case all you need to do is adjust the hard idle set screw on the back of the TB.

Check to make sure your AFM is plugged in.

please dont post replies like "adjusting ur idle screw"./.....most times its not even the problem...but once u start messin with it....the problem just gets worse.....adjusting the screw might cover up the problem.....what ur not gonna really fix the problem....im not saying im a rotary guru or anything...but i know enough not to f#$% with the idle screw without checking everytihng else that can go wrong.........i'd say...check the vacuum lines or the intake........same thing happened to my T2.......crack on the TID.....good thing i didnt mess with the idle screw

check your TPS etc. per FSM instructions. Mine was doing the same and it was a combination of the TPS being set improperly, and someone previously Incorrectly adjusting the fast idle on the back side of the TB.
