Car running super rich since gutting cats...

Hello, my car has been running super rich since gutting cats... I think it has something to do with my EGR b/c when I took the cats off completely and turned the car on, it idles fine and doesnt have excessive smoke... However, when I reconnected everything (gutted cats, mufflers, and egr) it began running super-rich...

I was just wondering if the EGR will cause such an issue and if so I will take it off tomorrow morning after work (yep, I work overnight right now....)

Can I just disconnect the line that ones from the cat to the EGR and put a breather on the EGR and plug the cat until I get my exhaust done next week?

Thanks for any help...

How do you know it started running rich? How are you measuring it?

Because I took the plugs out and they were wet... At first I thought it could have been the injectors but I have changed them with a spare set I had sitting around (changed the o-rings) and still have the same issue...

I have wired a fuel cut switch from the fuel pump and when I kill the fuel, the car runs descent and the revs smooth out for about 2-3 sec until the car dies and then I turn the pump back on and it begins running rich again...

I dont have a wideband but I can tell from the smell that it is excess gas (not the usual smell of a "slightly rich" N/A...) Also, when WOT at times the gas is black and I have gotten a few flames...

It seems as if the car is dumping so much fuel that unless I keep the revs up, it wont burn all of it and it'll foul the plugs...

I havent done a comp. test, but the car is stronger than ever and as of now is faster than my vert so I doubt the motor is toast... I think it has to be something with gutting the cats...

I think this all started because the previous owner removed the air pump and I heard of this leading to clogged cats (which mine did.) So, I gutted the cats and now the car is running rich... So, I was wondering if the EGR can cause this...

Thanks...

Ok... So I cut the egr line and placed a breather on it... Now the car drives nice and strong and the idle is solid... Will I do any damage to the car by driving like this until my block off plates and exhaust arrives next week?
