ok so the car is completely gutted no wires no motor only thing left is the suspension and rear end just so i can get it to roll

this is an s4 im doing a s5 swap (cus i found out my s5 chasis i just recently got is fucked up) so what im doing is bare minimum to run with stock ecu, manual steering rack, and tail lights, the plastic weigh almost nothing parts are going to go in and carpet. before laying down the carpet i need to know


1. whats the best way to clean the metal interior from all the nasty crap built up under the carpet




2. what would be the best way to seal up the interior from any holes drilled into(such as spray in bed liner one idea i had)



3. what is needed for running just engine tail lights and gauge cluster.




I want to do this as fast as possible so i am asking for advice because my ideas and reality might be different. as well as things like the exhaust temp sensor underneath the passenger side seat carpet. also try to keep in mind it doesn't have to run at optimum at the moment it is getting a haltech standalone in about 2 months.

any ideas very welcome i greatly appriciate it.

by the way if i leave all the ac and heater equipment out how would i route the heater hoses? any ideas on how much all that weighs?

thats what im saying ac is removed heater core infact everything behind the dash. My main concern is when installing the n351 ecu with engine wiring harness, and engine. What other input and output devices inside the vehicle including the wires, would i need to swap out. Plus whats the bare minimum that I could get away with. tring to just run the engine, tails, front turn signals, headlamps, idiot cluster , and guage cluster. i am going to run the radio indepent of the rest of the system so thats not a concern.

well, im a noob to fcs but not to bed liner, dont use carpet use bedliner, it makes the cab quiet and easy to keep clean, without carpet its soo loud in it good idea on ur part

thats what im thinking bed liner then carpet ontop of it for looks but how would i clean the car to have someone put some bedliner in there?

usaly the person does the clean and prep for ya but u dont even need carpet ontop of it just have thte bedliner, looks good and cleans up nice, but if u wanna do it right wire brush it sand it up and clean it up real nice, degrease it man or it wond stick well just take ur time and be patient

Use dry ice to remove the old tar sound deadening. crush a few pounds of dry ice, and distribute it over the tar, then tap it a few times w/ a hammer, or use a screwdriver to pry up large sheets of the stuff. Move the remaining dry ice to the next area and repeat the process. :) (usually 10 pounds of dry ice is enough for a whole car).

zero drift is right on. I used dry ice on mine. Followed with brake cleaner to remove any extra residue on the body. I then sanded down the interior and put down about 9 coats of paint (etching primer, primer, paint, clear). now when I clean my interior it consists of windex and a paper towel.

I left my heater core in so I have defrost,, but removed everything else. there is not much weight in the wiring harness so I left that in tact. I used silicone sealer to fill up the holes inthe body but the big ones I left open. Makes it fun in the rain!

Take your time and do it right. most of my weight savings was from the seats and engine bay. the carpet was not very heavy and the sound deadening was not more than 15lbs. But every step helps. I dropped near 300lbs out of my car.

yeah i want to run a sound deadener and the carpet but remove extra electronics (keep the stock look) but reduce wieght and get rid of excess miles of wiring

Pressure washer vacuum, sound adhesive remove I use a hammer and chisel.

Bad bad bad idea. It will take you 3 times as long as you think and cost twice as much. Now do it right and take your time.

ive spent too long doing it right and everything is ready to go in now just wanting to seal and sound deaden the interior

i want the engine to run just good enough to run then go stand alone cant afford the comp at the moment. plus im tired of hitching rides and it costs more in gas than if the car was running.

Just keep the whol harness in the car. it is all needed unless you strip it apart and remove the like 5 connectors you dont need. So leave the whole thing.

There is realy no way to seal it without welding or ruber plugs of some sort.

il ike that bed liner idea. i considered that aswell as an alternitive to just having the floorpan.

Pretty clean and I likey. That is what I am planning on doing to my car as soon as I get my bay back... (I'm a little low on money and couldnt afford the bay and my cars and my condo and college, etc.) I was going to strip my car done and sandblast it and remove all of the sound deadener, etc. Also, I was going to use small sheets of aluminum to cover the small holes and I was going to diamond plate the foot rest area in the drivers and passengar side. Then I was going to paint the interior (everything except the diamond plates.) Remove everything except the heater core. And just leave my two bucket seats. Also, I have two ractive seats that I might be getting rid of. (both black w/ only a couple of months on them) I want to get some Bride racing (nonreclinable) seats.

i want to basically do some sort of sound insulation and seal the holes first then i want to lay down the carpet and use exactly like you said diamond plate but just for like a permanent floor mat (to look clean and unique around here.)

while keeping the interior as noise and water proof as possible.
