car cranks but doesnt want to idle....HELP

i have a 88 turboII that i put a some what fresh a more low mileage motor in. okay the motor wants to run but doesnt want to idle. once i start it up the engine stays alive for like couple of sec. then it dies or like when i turn it over again i try to give it some gas but it just dies on me... im getting fuel i can smell it, checked ohms on all the injectors, checked fuel pressure, battery is fully charged, sparks plugs are new, all electrial connectors are in, i tryed adjusting my crank angle sensor and the engine made it top dead center by the yellow dot but like i sayed it turns over, wants to start but dies on me doesnt want to idle... do you guys have any idea? if you do all info would help alot for me getting this engine running, thanks...

May be a vacuum or air leak. Check all the hoses for leaks. Especially check the air hoses that connect to the intake hose. And while you're at it, make sure the AFM connector is plugged in.

The engine does not use the AFMs signal for the starting process.
After the engine starts (over 500rpms), it does use the AFM for fuel delivery.

"okay the motor wants to run but doesnt want to idle. once i start it up the engine stays alive for like couple of sec."

Well, from personal experience, if you forget to plug in the AFM connector, this is exactly what happens.

Just in case........I wasn't trying to contradict Go48. Just trying to give sevensoul a CLUE.

I was hoping if he read the words, then a light bulb would light up and he'd say "ah man, you mean I gotta connect that plug up?"

OR "you mean I can't leave that afm out so the air will flow better?".
