Car covers

I'm soon getting an 89 vert that unfortunately will have to be outside for a while. Anyone using a high quality car cover they would recommend?

I had a fitted rx7 car cover that came with the car that I never used. Hell, if I still have it I'll give it to you...if I still have it.

I just broke down and got a Temporary garage.
You can cover the car, work on it and if you move your car out you can party in it!

what styx said, most car covers are not actually made to hold out the elements such as water or rain and will soak through the cover and actually do more harm than good. they're more for just keeping the dust off, while in a garage.

tarps, same thing, most are in fact not waterproof and if not firmly secure will etch the paint in the wind.

get a vinyl temporary garage for a couple hundred bucks and secure it to the ground very well with anchors. owning a vert you should have someplace to park it out of the weather anyways, so it might be more of a permanent solution.

there are indoor and outdoor car covers, most covers you buy at stores aren't really good at either. tarps are a no go too, they keep rain off, but when the water evaporates from the ground it gets stuck under the tarp, which is the car, they do more harm than good.

well, i'm sure there is outdoor covers but see your note about condensations remaining under the cover. no cover allows air to move across the car so they are all really only for indoor use, at least in my opinion anyways.

as you will note, even those $400 'outdoor' covers do not have stellar reviews. plus for that money you can buy an enclosure for it and remove the hassle of the cover.

exactly.I paid 225 CDN for my garage..6 years ago and it still holds up fine. The only reason I just got another one is I can't fully open the doors on the car and that was my fault when I first purchased it.I should have went wider..like 13 feet instead of 10.

Besides,Noting that your car is a VERT if you tarp it the interior is already at risk of condensation and mold etc.Not to mention varmints.

*trust me..Mouse Pee is hard to get out of a VERT!...you drive down the road and the air gets in the cracks..WHIFF That Sucker...holy crap..!

Harbor freights carport were 170$ last I looked,I got a new one for free so I can't complain,a bitch to put up but if done correctly works great. Good enough to keep a wrangler with no top safe through a New England winter.

On a side note I bought a car cover from Walmart ,it's the same one I saw at napa for half the price, worked decent for about a week then water started getting through so I wouldn't recommend something like that.

I used to keep my car outside under a cover. Kept the rain off, interior dry, snow off.
I defy someone to argue with the condition of my paint and tell me covers dont work

A $50 wallmart one- no.
A good fitted cover in the proper material absolutely

got mine from california car covers.
Just bought another one few years ago after a good 15 years so i say i got my money worth from the first one.

Calif car covers don't show one for RX7, do you have a link?

Seamoan 06-03-16 03:04 AM

I get the 40 dollar ones from the local autoparts store. Your exhaust will melt the car cover and put holes in it. The car cover is pretty effective for protecting from the sun but you shouldn't cover the car in a wet environment. If your car gets wet under the cover, remove the cover and allow it to dry before putting it back onto the car. The main purpose of an economy car cover is to protect from the sun, which will do the most damage to your vert top. On a related note you should buy some 303 Aerospace protectant. It will protect against UV rays and put a deep black into your leather.

pick a material then select car, I just did it with 3 materials I dont know if this link will show this is the last one I did: California Car Cover Company - Car Cover Materials

I used to put the cover on but not pull it over the exhaust tips until it cooled, with a proper fitting cover you can that
