can you put a turbo in an n/a or do you have to buy a turbo motor??
 

i was just wondering if you can put a turbo on an n/a cuz i may be buying a 91 n/a with a blown engine and want to know if its possible. also if it is, is it easyer to put the turbo on or buy a different motor??

Unless you are very mechanically inclined, has lots of change $$, lots of free time, don't mind car up on stands for God knows how long and /or your car is in showroom condition, you're better off buying a Turbo FC.

You don't want a blown turbo engine. Get a Jspec from a reputable importer and drop it in your car. You'll also need a ECU, wiring harnes, driveshaft, turbo differental, and possibly the transmission ( if the transmission doesnt come with the engine).

It would be more expensive to rebuild a S5 turbo engine than it would be to buy a Jspec.

I believe buying a jspec motor would probably be cheaper and better choice. You also dont have to go through the hassle of finding all the necessary parts or piecing the car together unless you find a parts car.

Yeah, but, who knows when the Jspec will blow? There's no gurantees it's that low mileage, and who knows how it was treated. At least with a rebuild, you know what you're getting.

And to the original poster, for someone with over 600 posts, don't you know where to find this information? Haven't you seen it posted about one thousand times before?

You really don't need 3mm Apex seals. The standard 2mm can handle a lot of power.

Even if you are mechanically inclined... Dont bother... It costs about the same to do a complete TII engine swap and you get better results... How do I know? I learned from my mistake. (so far the most expensive mistake I've made)

I said a reputable engine importer, some of them offer a warrenty on there engines, besides, it would be cheaper to rebuild a good jspec than to rebuild a blown TII motor.
