im sure most normal individuals have pondered the idea of having rear seats in a convertible rx7.,

im sure most have thought theres no room, or theres too much bracing in the way, or where would the top go when u put it down?

none of that matters! they do fit!.... if you take a few hours with a grinder! to the frame! haha.

my dad purchased this parts car vert to part out, and I couldn't belive what the previous owner had done., I had to share!

Just be careful not to cut the shit out yourself sitting in the seats!, or to cut the wiring harness! hah

Attachment 651044
more bracing cut out!, note there are threaded bolt holes where the lower brackets for the upright go! they must use the same floor pan for both models, then add to it for the vert

Attachment 651045
even the center has threaded holes for the seat belts, but the outside does not.

so there you have it! what an abomination!, RIP convertible!

does anyone have a picture of a normal vert with no rear interior for people to see how much was really cut out?

A vert doesn't have that depressed section in the back for rear seats. It looks like they cut the vert bracing out and welded in a coupe section of the body there.

That's an amazing amount of damage for such a minimal gain.

I suppose if you had a legless, headless kid, you could slot the torso in those seats and he'd fit.
Probably still hate it though.

what the....... lol

I too would like to see a stripped down vert.

When I had my 1st gen and coupe 2nd gen, and gutted them, it felt like I achieved SO much more room.

What did you use all that new space for?

Filled it with deep thought and serene contemplation, a feng-shui'd Holmsian mind palace.
And drugs, obviously.

Its like the space NA guys find when they go to a electric fan set up, lol

I'm pretty sure people just fill the car with road noise after removing the interior. You know, because modded rotaries aren't loud enough with a full interior. ;)

Yay..like the vert is already slow enough.
Hmm..needs more passenger weight.Cut 20 pounds of steel off the car,add foam..Uncle BOB...

Makes me want to go front wheel drive..because It can be done..just have to cut some steel here and there and....
