Can u get an s4 driver side window switch to work on an s5?

bought a driver side power window switch off ebay marked 86-91. it plugged right but will not operate the windows. the design of the switches do not match what i have on the passenger side. it is clearly an s4 switch. will pulling the main fuse and re-inserting it make the switch work? my car is an 91 coupe na

Is the child window lock on the driver side engaged?

no i was flipping that back and forth (on/off) and it did not work either way. the child lock is on the main switch, drivers side right?

probably got another junk switch but check the fuses first, i also believe there is a circuit breaker at the top for the windows which could have popped out.

the s4 and s5 are interchangeable but they are built slightly differently.

Does the passenger side switch operate the passenger side window?

S4 is plug and play when used in place of an S5 switch. More important, S4 switch's are much easier to repair than S5.

Take your S4 switch apart and clean the contacts. If that isn't it, then you most likely aren't getting power to the switch's in the first place.
