can some one describe this to me??
 

i need to know what the oil pressure regulator looks like it goes in the front housing and has a black spring and a large bolt and one the other end of the spring is some kind of cylinder thingy but i cant tell what it is from the fsm and i have a bag of parts that came with my motor and im not sure what it is.

sounds like you are referring to the thermal pellet that goes in the front of the e-shaft...

um i might have gotten the name wrong but it dosent go in the front of the esaft it goes in the bottom of the front cover theres a big black strong skinny spring and a large bolt with a little hole in the top and on the other end somthing else is supose to go there and i dont know what else.....edit i looked at fsm its on mage 67 and its called the oil pressure regulator valve

There are GREAT exploded diagrams in the FSM and Haynes which show this assembly.

Basically the piston goes into the front cover with the piston pointing down (towards the threaded hole). Then the spring gets inserted, and finally the plug gets installed and tightened to the torque as specified in the FSM.

I'm pretty sure that stuff like this is also covered in every rebuild video, thread and tutorial.

It looks like a piston. About 1/2" in diameter, about half an inch long, with a flat face and a bore hole in the bottom.

Oil Pressure CONTROL valve.

The Regulator screws into the rear side housing.

The spring fits into the hollow of the Oil Pressure Control Valves piston, then the dead end of the piston goes into the hole first, not the hollow end of the piston. Oil Pressure CONTROL valve. Relies at 156psi. Ain't the jobber that controls the oil pressure, that the Regulators job. 71 psi for it.

yeah i jsut cant find that piston and i dont know exactly what it looks like ..is it red plastic with 2 black orings on it?

Take a picture of all your stuff and post it.

It might be trapped inside the front cover. They don't just fall out. They're a somewhat tight fit.

Shove your spring or screwdriver in the front cover hole. All the way. At the other end of the hole, on the side, there is an opening.

If you see your screwdriver blade, then it's (piston) not in the passage. IF you see that side hole covered with a solid piece of metal, that is the *piston*. Get a scribe and work it down to the end of the passage as far as you can, then????? work at it.
