Can an S5 owner verify CAS wires please?
 

Hi, I hate to start another thread but can't get an answer to this simple question so maby a direct request can get some one to check for me :)

While working on a rebuild R&R the CAS (crank angle sensor) wires got completely broke off on the harness connector at the CAS.

I need to know FOR 100% which color wires connect to which wires on the CAS plug itself.

there are 4 wires
on CAS

O O
White/wblack stripe White

O O
Green Red



on harness there are four wires Blue White Green Red
which ones do they connect to

remember S5 as I have an S4 and am reasonably sure it is the same but due to a no spark problem I need to eliminate for sure this wire connection

please please please can an S5 owner (91 or whatever) run out to their car and look for me this is all that is holding up this diagnostic.....

You should be able to work this out by yourself though.

If you look inside the cas, the top two TEETH are for the G signal. So you now look at the coil opposite those two teeth and follow both wires back to the ECU pinouts for the G signal.

Same with the NE signal. The coil should be opposite the 24teeth, and then follow the two wires for NE back to the ECU.

I don't have a series five, only a series four, but looking at the online schematic for series five and making up stuff as I go along, I think it can be done like that.

OR, how about putting that series five cas in your series four and starting it up. That would prove the cas are wired the same.

Look in the cas. The top coil is for the G signal.

One of those wire goes to pin 3G on the ECU plug.

The other should go to 3H.

On the bottom coil one wire goes to 3E for NE signal.

The other wire should also ring/ohm to 3H since they are spliced together in the harness according to the wiring diagram.

I finally solved it last night by downloading the darned S5 wiring diagram...(ironically from the pic posted above) I did'nt know that the wiring diagram was not part of the FSM :(

See I had the S5 manual and Haymes etc. etc. but there was no easy way to decipher without that pic from the S5 wiring diagram. I had solved the Ne and G signal but couldnt solve the top bottom...to hard to explain :0

I had the prob BECAUSE of the fact that the S4 is almost totally opposite and upside down in wirng on the cas to the S5. And though had the other schematic only the one of the pics of S5 wiring had the real answer.

All I really needed was someone with an S5 to look at there plug though, but O well got there eventually and thanks to those who tried to help :)

The car is running as of today YAY!

S4 no spark problem
 

How did you fix it? I'm having the same problem with my S4. I have an 87 T2, however it has the same problem yours did. I just put a JSPEC engine in it, but it had a no spark problem before. It also had a blown engine. I sent you a PM also.
