Can painting car with hammered rustoleum. pics
I got tired of my Bs messed up paint on my vert (yes it is that messed up) so i bought this hammered dark bronze rustoleum, and sanded the headlight covers, front bumper and fenders with 100 grit sandpaper, and painted a coat of rustoleum on, then a clear coat.
It went on really smooth and cured well, and actually looks really good. It says on the can "covers minor surface imperfections" and "no primer needed" or something along those lines. Looks great for now, if it totally peels or something later, which i doubt it will. I can fix it. Anyways, here are some big ass pictures. http://webpages.charter.net/vtecpreludez/rustoleum2.JPG http://webpages.charter.net/vtecpreludez/rustoleum1.JPG I also sanded the blinker lenses with 220 then 600 grit and clear coated them. They sure do look smooth. |
It doesnt look perfect, but it looks a lot better than it did!

wow, i cant really tell from the pics, but are there any visible overspray marks, or uneven spray paint marks? any other colors than that? and also is that the can with a adjustable blue nozle tip?
|
i did same thing to my aluminum hood and my buddies thought i had it professionally done..its temp though..need the car one color.

Neat colour....
The last hood I saw painted with a rattle can (and clear coated) would chip if you looked at it funny! No stone chips - bug chips! Hope it's stronger than that! |

lol that's a cheap way :D ;)
I am probably going to do something like this to my hood once I hack a hole in it for the TMIC. |
If your going to do rattle can jobs, do it the smart way.
Easy step by step process. :D 1. Hose down car 2. Buy WET sanding paper kit- includes 220-320-600 3. Sand with 220. 4. Primer if needed. 5. Sand primer with 320. 6. Wash car again. 7. Dry 8. Apply first layer of top coat. Proceed to wet sand with 320. Apply second coat after washing and drying. Wer and again with 320. Apply 3rd and final coat, wet sand with 600. 9. Wash and dry car- apply clear coat. Wet sand with 600, apply second layer of clear coat. This should give you a very nice and tough finish. I have painted computer cases for 5 years now with this process and it works out great every time. |
That looks damn good, hard to beleive it was rattle can. What was up with the paint before you did that?
|
it was just a bad paint job, and scratched up in some places.

is that the can with a adjustable blue nozle tip?
