Can i use this on a S5 1990 Turbo?
|
No, thats for a N/A car without a turbo, so it bypasses the turbo entirely. What you need is a tubular turbo manifold if you get anything. The preferred method is to run one with an external wastegate setup so that it gives you more control over boost and higher exhaust flow, as the stock setup is an internal wastegate that requires much more work to modify to allow more exhaust to bypass the turbo itself. I'm sure someone will pipe in with some turbo setup advice, but I'm just giving you the down and dirty basics of turbo ancillary controls.

Thanks alot, so blocking off the internal wastegate, is that a hard thing to do/get done? What kind of external wastegate should i be looking at getting?

What exactly are you trying to do?

Hmmm so no point really going and changing all that. I've already done the turbo back exhaust myself, 3" all the way to 5" tips (love the backfire). Reason for it was i was reading that the external gates control the boost better, as i am planning on boosting to around 10-12psi near the end of the year.
3 Other slightly related questions! What would i need to get done in conjunction with a bridgeport? (eg. new ecu, injectors, ect) And what else should i get done whilst the engine is out for rebuild/porting? And what kind of power and boost am i able to get out of the car with a bridgeport without losing engine life? |

With a bridgeport, think 450+ HP. Not insignificant... |
So i HAVE to get a new turbo? =S I've read that a bridgey would reduce reliability, especially because it's my daily, is that true? Got suggested to get a large extend port, would that require all the same things afterwards(obviously the injectors and ecu)?
Thanks alot Aaron, massive help. |
