Can I use a Apexi VAFC as a SAFC?

I'm looking to get a SAFC to control my running rich problem. I see alot of VAFCs for sale, and was wondering if that would work. According to Apexi, the VAFC is the same except it engages vtec points. Thanks for the input.

I guess you cant then. I've heard of people using the VTEC feature to activate other stuff.

of course you can run it
you just cant use the vtec part
duh!

SUP. im not really sure about this but isnt the the vafc the same as the safc except with the vtec feature? i use to have a honda and i read a forum where you could use the vafc to change when the vtec kicks in because its activated by a sensor/switch. my boy had it on all the time kicking in at like 1 to 2 thousand rpm. if thats true, cant you use the vafc to open s5 ports at lower rpms? s5 ports are opened by sensor/switch aint it. i know the guy aboved mentioned it but i want to know for sure, it seems like a good idea for my s5 gxl. thank

It used to be the older AFC versions were like this - the VTEC version was just an AFC with an RPM trigger channel for the VTEC.

yes you can

As has been mentioned, you can use it. Just ignore the VTEC function.

Yes - And FWIW the NA guys can use it to open the aux ports.

even on an s4?

If my make the appropriate modifications by running the output of the airpump through a solenoid and then into the ports, then yes. You can use the output of the VAFC for anything you need switched on and off at an Ne (RPM) point. Ports, nitrous, VDI, etc. Hell, you could even connect a boost solenoid to bleed off boost until a certain RPM for more managable launches...

no shit, how would that work out using the VAFC to control the 5th and 6th ports. Thats pretty nuts. I cant believe I never thought of that

See the topic in the archives for electronic ports. Then substitute the VAFC for the RPM switch.
