can i hav :pros and cons comparison please?
the bastard shed construction people still havent put up the shed yet... leaving me carless...(i dont want to have a car sitting outside...shifty neighbour hood) so apparently the shed goes up on monday...ill be needing a rx7 this week sometime...
anyways i was wondering the pros and cons of the first gen rx7 and the 2nd gen's (ALL NON TURBO) ? eg: standard 1/4 mile times, engine problems, reliability, fuel and oil consumption and just anything that likes to not cooperate on 1st and 2nd gens... as to help me decide what gen will be most suitable for me... |
Pro: You own a rotary
Con: You own a rotary |

SA con:
crappy steering live rear axle replacement parts getting hard to find non GSL-SE (do you have such things over there?) 4x110 bolt pattern wheels hard to find SA pro: light weight FC con: heavier weight FC pro: rack & pinion steering IRS fuel injection better engine internals easier to find parts -Ted |
I have owned both. I agree with RETed's post, plus I would like to point out that they are very different cars. The 1Gen is nice if you are short on money, don't mind the smaller and more spartan interior, and like carburetors. The 2Gen is better if you like a more refined sports car.
Reliability is about the same because the 2Gen is generally more reliable but it has more parts that can fail. The 2Gen will get better gas mileage and will more likely pass emissions tests if you have them in your area. They both have comparable 1/4 mi times in stock form, but the 1Gen is lighter and will go in a straight line faster than a 2Gen assuming equal race engines. I think you should try driving each and see which one you like better. |
thanks guys ill probly get a 1st gen then and just chuck a 13b n/a from a series 4/5 in...or try and find one with the coversion done already.
