Can I beat a Sebring Convertible with my setup?

Hey, I was driving around town last night, and there's this guy with a sebring convertible with those nasty lights under and inside his car. They're those ricer blue ones. Well, he's unmodded except for the cosmetic ones. I've got an 89 Convertible with the Auto. Yeah, I admit...it's really slow, and I know that he could absolutely kill me off the line, but if we were rolling. I've got a straight exhaust setup. What do y'all think? An RX Auto vert with straights, or a stock sebring convertible? I would like to know before I try anything. We kept pulling up along side each other at stop lights last night, and he kept flooring it off the line and he kept looking over at me with this really mean look. I just really think he needs to be put in his place because he tries too hard. Get this, last night after he took off from a light, I slowly caught up to him, and I let mine downshift to like 3800, and I guess he thought that I was trying to pass him...he floors it, and he ends up running through the middle of town at like 70 or 80 (right by Wal-Mart and Taco Bell where all the cops hang out) and that's in a 45 zone. I wasn't even going to try to race. Anyway, what do y'all think? Should I try to race him or just let him think highly of himself?

Just let him go. You're car isn't a drag car, race him on the curviest road you find, your car may be really slow, but you know it will handle much better.

take him on the roll man. next time he pulls up next to you and its an area where there are n few cops and open space and doen shift. i you have the lock-up converter keep it in gear until redline then shift. do it one time to show him your no slouch. then leave him alone. you should be able to take him fairly easily. i have an auto and i have raced all kinds of cars with it(on the move). i come out on top nine times out of ten. unless they're the cobra's or SS or really, really hooked-up civics and eclipses.

hey, thanks guys. I would definitely consider giving it a go on a roll. Well do the twisties when I get my alignment fixed (a lady hit me on my right front fender). Anyway, thanks for the advice...I'd hate to get slammed.
