Can a external wastegate be used on s5 turbo's?

Im creeping again to 15 psi with a ported s5 turbo because of a 45 degree TID i recently installed. I need to disable this POS internal WG my s5 turbo has. I need to know how to do this and if i can even use an external WG with the s5 turbo.

I figure an external adjustable WG will allow me to completly control how much boost i get and i am of corse going to be getting a new turbo manifold to accomidate the WG if i am able to do this.

Thanks.

There are some pics of how I did it in this thread.

I dunno how this is possible with a properly ported wastegate.
We've only managed to get 2.5psi out of an H-trim hybrid. :(

Well i guess there may be more i could port out of it but are you saying that a completly ported s5 turbo only allows for 2.5 psi?? That sounds crazy but hey if that works than i guess i would have to go with a boost controller but isint an external wastegate better for controling boost and easier?

I guess what im looking for is to allow my turbo to boost easily but at the same time control it completly. My understanding is that with the proper wastegate installed i can adjust the amount of exuast flow to what i want.

Port it as much as you can and then get a boost controller to be in full control of your boost.

BLUE TII who did that work for you, that is some quality shit.

I fabbed/ported it all up and had the TIG welding done by Pat at Wrightway Fabrication.

As Ted said, it is unusual to get boost creep on S5 turbo w/ stock compressor. It is unusual to get boost creep w/ properly ported S5 wastegates with all but the largest compressor upgrades.

Make sure your timing/fuel is set correctly. I don't know if it is possible to get it so far off it causes creep on stock set-up, but I know I have been able to alleviate some boost creep by taking out excessive fuel and timing retard on my set-up.

I get some boost creep with my S5 turbo with ported wastegate. When I just had my turbo back exhaust it would hold 5.5psi to redline if I wanted it to. Then I did the TID mod with a 3" pipe, and it will hold low boost in 1st and 2nd gear, but when I try on the highway, in 3rd or 4th, its been slowly creeping as high as .7bar. I have no FCD and I've never hit fuel cut though, so I don't know whats up with that.

I think it might have something to do with my shit $8 ebay boost controller I added around the time I did the TID mod. My friend has the same one and he was boosting like 18psi on his eclipse for some strange reason. I'm going to disconnect my boost controller next chance I get, and if that helps my boost problem, I'm just going to take the $300 hit and buy a profec B.
