Calling all who have corner weighed their FCs.
 

I'm trying to get my ride height set, and of course the factory manual doesn't list factory ride height specs. I'm looking for the difference in the front and rear ride height, measured from the ground to the top of the fender arch, on a car that has been corner weighted at 50/50. Or if you wouldn't mind posting your ride height at all four corners, that would be awesome! I'm trying to get the distribution as close as I can, until I can get it properly corner weighted.

No substitute for corner weighting, especially considering that when done properly it should account for your weight in the driver seat.

From what I've seen/read 25" floor to fender, seems to be what the fd guys shoot for. Its not exactly aesthetically appealing but it retains proper suspension travel and keeps you from needing to worry too much about compensating for bump streer and roll center adjustments.

I recently re-lowered my car from 24.5" to.....looks much better now, lol. I'm sure its not ideal performance wise as my control arms point upward a bit, but I'm ok w/ that. At least until I get it corner weighted and re-aligned.

Yeah, no doubt. I can't wait to get it corner weighted! But until then, I need to get it somewhat close.

I've got mine sitting about 24" in the front and 24.25" in the rear. I'm trying to figure out if they should stay pretty even front to rear or if one should be slightly higher to stay closer to 50/50.

the stock rake is roughly 1"

my last car is an 87 GXL with 76,000miles on the clock, all stock, and it was about 26.5" from the ground to the fender in the front and about 27.5" in the rear.

My '90 GXL with a completely rebuilt suspension (totally gutted during the process) is now 24.75"-24.88" in the front and 26.38"-26.50" in the rear with Eibach springs and KBY AGX struts. With coil overs, adjusting this would be a breeze. Also with a full set of the Mazdatrix adjustable SW links, you can adjust/jack the corner weights by altering their pre-load.

Personally I will move the battery and install a convertible aluminum hood to shift and re-balance the weight as well.

You can't change the weight distribution by changing the ride height, not by any significant amount anyway.
You'd have to raise one end of the car by a foot to make a 50/50 car into a 49/51 car.
*note, no math was done to achieve these numbers. ;)

Deacon: I've completely rebuild my suspension. The adjustable end links are the only thing I have left to finish off my suspension, other than possibly a steering angle/bump steer kit.

Travis: Yeah, I know it would take a larger difference to change the the split. When I say 50/50, I mean balanced. Searching for ride height specs(stock or corner weighted/balanced) turns up nothing on here and the factory workshop manuals have no information on this either. Granted everyone's cars weigh different amounts and have the weight distributed differently, this info could be useful base line to many FC owners setting their ride height.

Apparently you know shit about corner weighting...

It has nothing to do with front/rear weight distribution.
Corner weighting makes for better handling, as you adjust the rideheight to get a perfect cross-balance.
So front left + rear right equals front right + rear left...

Its important to set the springrate first and set the car to the height of your preference before weighing.

I had altered my car for about 5years and when i put it on the scales, it needed no adjusting at all! :)
Front-rear had about 30kg difference with half a tank

There is no preset/fixed/best ride height..
With corner weighting you adjust mere mm, so that wont be an issue, Pick any height you want

Mine is not as low as i would like, but chose this height because now i can get over all the speedbumps without too much trouble
