caliper rebuild
has anyonr rebuilt rear 86 calipers is it hard too do

Honestly, you would be better to just get some good used calipers, or send them out to get rebuilt. Because they will prolly end up leaking again in like a year...

go to aap and ask for rebuilt calipers. There like $50+core for 1pots. the rebuild kits are at least $20/caliper anyhow...

I've heard the rear calipers are tricky because of the e-brake mechanism in them. I'd reccomend buying rebiuilt ones also, theyre not that expensive.

I have an old set of calipers off of my 88 Turbo II if anyone is interested pm me...

I would just go buy rebuilds for the rear. I tried to tackel the rebuilding the rears. But there is a snap ring that is deep in the bore that needs to come out to do a COMPLETE rebuild. I decided to just do the piston seal and the piston dust boot in my rebuild. It works and doesn't leak.
But in the future I would just buy rebuilt rear calipers. However, in the front just rebuild those your self. It will take a few hours but you will save money in the long run! James |
