A/C and Wiper Problems
1 Attachment(s)
Good day my RX brothers,
Having a little problem here with my 1988 RX7 Convertible NA, (stock). My A/C unit will work intermittently. When it does not turn on, I will leave the switch in the on position, and after a while, it will come on by itself, or not come on at all. Next time I start the car, it will work like new. Sometimes I shut the engine off, restart, and it works. The light on A/C panel are not on when it does not turn on. I recently noticed that when the A/C is not working, my Wipers will not work either. When my A/C works, wipers work fine. Suspect a short somewhere. Any ideas? Thanks for your help and input. Merry Christmas my friends! RotorAce |
It may be the ignition switch I have the same issue on my 90 vert.

Try wiggling the ignition switch i have the same issue with my 90 vert.

a/c issue
I have the same issue and I just wiggle the ignition switch.

How's you're Freon charge? There's a pressure switch on the high pressure line. If your pressure is marginal, than the switch may be switching on an off.

Im pretty sure my Freon charge is good, but will play with my ignition switch and see what happens. Thanks for the info guys.

Your problem is likely the ground to the wipers and the A/C system for they both share the same grounding point thus it would make sense to start there. The location of the grounds are below the trailing coil and bolted up against the strut tower. There is a "how to" related site created by Aaron Cake which explains how to clean up the grounds including pics.

Yeah definitely check your ground. Also buy a ground kit for your ECU and engine.

Ground kits
who sells these kits?

It's BS, you don't need a ground kit.
Either the ignition switch is worn, or the grounding location under the trailing coil is no beuno. |
