A/C removal question?
 

I've been searching the forum on the a/c removal, and it's been fairly straight forward, however I did come across one post that makes me ask this question. If I remove my a/c will it affect the heat in the car? I need the heat cause it's F'n freezing here! Thanks.

Speaking of AC I got a question. Do you have to have the system discharged by a proffesional or is there a way to get it out without doing that? Just wondering cause I have never heard that part talked about in any threads that I found about AC removal. Thanks.

well, you can vent it out to atmosphere, but thate UNBELIEVABLY illegal

Yeah.... I've only done it on 4 cars myself... Just watch out for the EPA and you're all good. And if it's been converted to that newer enviroment safe shit, be ready for a massload of oil and crap to come flying out of there. I hate that shit.

To remain on the right side of the law and the greenies you need to get it done professionally. ;)

F--- that... Rip that f----- out yourself and spill all of those chemicals right onto the floor. While your at it, discard all of your drained oil and used filters at the beach, and gut your cat so you can smog up the air real good while you make the trip. Who cares if you fail emissions inspections!

hehe, no emission laws where I am so they are already gone. I don't wanna get the AC chemicals out in atmosphere though cause they are highly HAZARDOUS TO HUMANS TO BREATH (meaning me as I stand there wondering what I am doing...) so I don't wanna breath em in at all. And don't have a "mask" to wear and not gonna go buy one either. :P Anyways, guess I will maybe yank it out myself anyways, but not at my house....

I'd like to add a word of warning..Be careful and discharge the freon slowly. If you cut the hose, or "rip that shit out of there", you could frreze your eyes. Not kidding, be careful and discharge throught schrader valve before removing hoses.

i'd say have it done professionally. freon is worse for the environment than cars. or somewhere up there.

Just get it done professionally. I wouldnt imagine it costs much, I believe they can reuse the stuff in another AC unit anyways.

Why remove it anyway? It doesnt create any parasitic loss when its not on since its just a free spinning pulley. Unless for some reason you LIKE decreasing your car's resale value for no reason :D
