A/c Failure!

I don't know if this has happened to you guys but it's been going on since I got my car in late December....

I'll run my A/C for some time like on my way to the beach or something, and out of nowhere BOOM! A/C shuts off. Just stops blowing out of nowhere. Turn it off, and then back on, and there's nothing....but now if I punch it, SOMETIMES it will come back on. lol.

but only sometimes...
I can't figure out what the deal is. Any suggestions???

ALSO....

I noticed today that my windshield wipers wont work. On mist it moves for like a nanosecond, and then stops. The next setting. Works fine. But the verry last setting doesn't work at all. I don't understand it cus it was working fine when I got my car until this past week.

I don't know what's the deal with these problems. Got any advice guys???

Ricky.

A/C compressor either has a loose connection, is going bad, or the system is running low on refrigerant. I have seen some that shut off after some refrigerant has been lost but kick right back on once I charged the system.

Wipers are covered under one of the FAQ's I think. Just use the search button and everything will be revealed to you.

ooooh. ok. Ya, the guys at the Mazda dealership when I took my baby up there, they were gay and like, "uhh... That's just the nature of the motor...." ya.... I wasn't THAT dumb.....

thanks for the help man.

Boostmaniac 06-09-06 12:56 AM

No problem.

And stay away from the stealership, most mechanics there usually don't know jack about rotaries.

kikkoman006 06-09-06 12:58 AM

ya, I just didn't know what to do and my dad is the kinda guy who thinks that the dealerships know what's best....

ya.... I didn't wanna take it there but it was better than not nowing anything at all... being here in Crestview, Florida.....there's only one person that in this whole county that knows how to work on Rotaries....

well, that owns a shop anyway.....

Boostmaniac 06-09-06 01:15 AM

Then talk to that man.

Only use the dealership for OEM replacement parts.

Lol, with every other type of car it is reverse, don't buy OEM but have them check out your car. Rotaries are like, don't ever let them work on it but DO buy their parts.

bl0d 06-09-06 07:56 AM

We used to have an independent shop that worked on rotaries 90% of the time, but they closed down and moved north this past spring. Now the only shops that have rotary mechanics are the Mazda Dealership and the Hyundai Dealership next to it... :(

take it out

Both the AC blower and the windsheild wipers will shut off and turn back on ramdomly if your ignition switch is going bad. If either of these items are not working, jiggle your keys in the ignition and see if they will restart.

Icemark 06-09-06 10:11 AM

sounds like the ignition switch is failing. Both the things he mentioned are on the ignition2 wire of the ignition switch.

BLKTOPTRVL 06-09-06 10:16 AM

BTW, for those with verts... The roof power is on that same circuit.

kikkoman006 06-09-06 05:10 PM

oh ok.
thanks for the help guys....
it's summer time (obviously) and no AC sucks my left testicle.

bl0d 06-09-06 05:59 PM

I was told my A/C system needs to be re-oiled because the compressor is overly loud...so i'm without A/C until i get it checked out.

kikkoman006 06-09-06 06:04 PM

haha. that sucks...

ok, well I checked it out, and I did like you guys were saying:

put AC on full blast and wipers all the way on.

Well, I started the car and began to wiggle away with the key...
Something I noticed instantaniously upon start up was that my AC was blowing fairly weak for it being all the way up....

I wiggled the key some and it started to blow REALLY hard like it's suppose to. So that was good, but on the other hand, the wipers still didn't do anything. They DID work correctly for about 2 seconds, then I turned them off to see if it would still work or not and it didn't after that....

So I'm guessing that it is the ignition....right???

tinvestor 06-09-06 06:24 PM

If Icemark says "it is probably________" or "it sounds like______" and it costs less than $200 just do it and thank him. And be thankful that the solution to your problem costs less than $200.

If you get a new ignition you can bring your old one and your new one to a good locksmith and they can rekey the inside to match your old keys so you wont have to change the doors or carry two keys.
