buying a TII...opinions

For a long time I have been in love with the 7, and soon I will have an opportunity to buy one. I found a 1987 TII in my hometown and haven't been able to look at it yet but the guy is advertising as having a new engine, not sure if it is S4 or S5, with 5 grand on it. I has some mods, racing clutch, foggers, and gauges, and he is offering it for 3800. If the engine is strong, and there arent any other glaring problems do you think it is the right price? Also how much will a racing clutch affect driveability?

BTW Im at school now so I wont be able to look at the car until may.

Uhh.. Well someone later will give a better answer... But S5s came out in 1989... Have those automatic seatbelt things.... Anything else I'd know, would just have to come from me seeing it... But I'm pretty sure you'll have a better answer from someone more knowledgeable by tomorrow :)

I meant I'm not sure if the engine is S4 or S5

The car will probably be gone by May if it isn't a pile. But to answer you question, that seems like a reasonable price. The racing clutch will depend on what type of racing clutch it is. Some are designed to be streetable, while others are full on race clutches that would be a major pain in the ars on the street. If it is a street car it most likely has a "street/strip" clutch that will be fine on the street.

Oh yeah, it takes quite a bit of modification to put a s5 engine in an s4. I wouldn't buy one that is like that for fear of some low quality "modifications" that might have been made.
