Buying TII
I just had a quick question. I'm new to tuners, but not to cars. It seems like TII's of any year are harder to come by, although not that expensive. My question is whether I should look for a clean one to build up, or get one that's already built? I know the pro's and con's, but I am referring mainly to availability. I find a lot more rx7's that need a little work, nothing major, then ones that are already modified. So if I come across a decent TII then should I get it? Or are they common enough that I can wait for the exact one I'm looking for? It doesn't seem like there are too many in my area at all, let alone modified. Thanks.

I'd prefer looking for one that hasn't already been modded. So you know it wasn't beat on as much. I picked mine up all stock and did everything myself. You take a chance with any car though. Local kid around here had 16k on a rebuilt t2 and the motor went, mine lasted 159k. Good luck on your search though.

Thanks. That was what I was thinking, but I had seen modded ones going for aorund $5k or less, and I kinda wanted one that was already modded a little. But I guess if I find a decent one it's not that bad to build up. Just to clarify I'm not againt modding it myself, but I am against project cars. I'm selling my current vehicle because it's too much work.

So in general are TII's hard to come by?

It also depends on whether or not it's a S4 or S5. I see a lot more S4 TII's, as I have only seen a handful of S5 TII's EVER. I would say that a CLEAN and UNMODDED TII is hard to come by, but not impossible. Lucky for you, it doesn't have to be bone stock, so you may have a little easier time finding one than I did. I searched for a few years to find the stock S5 TII that I wanted.

ya, the one's Ive seen are all s4's too. I read that it's easy to convert them to s5's, so that's not a major factor. I'd like an s5, but finding one looks to be hard.

Is this a little high for what it is? Just curious. It has a few suspension mods, 144,xxx miles, comes with some goodies, and is a TII. I'm thinking in the neighborhood of $4k-4500, but he's asking $5500 obo

Is the motor rebuilt? At 144k, and depending on the motor's condition, you could be in for a rebuild pretty soon, car looks clean though.

wheres this at? if you dont get it i want it! :-)

lol I'm not tellin'! I was thinking this. But I've heard with proper maintenance they can last a lot longer. I don't think I will be putting too many miles on it anytime soon though. So that's not too bad of a price for this clean of a car?

that car loooks CLEAN, has LOTS of miles!
I would rather buy a bone stock t2 with lots of miles than a modded one from ?? with low miles. If you knew the builder, and had seen his work, and seen it last, then maybe go for the modded car. but you never know how the owner drove the car. |
