Buying a JDM TurboII engine

Im looking at this complete TurboII engine from this website " bestofjdm.com"
I just want to know if anyone had any experience with them, hows their reputation?
Any better TurboII engine sellers? thanks

Does the engine come with a harness and ECU? JDM engines are quite similar domestic, but usually have less emissions controls on them. I've never done the swap myself, but I'm sure lots of people have.

It comes with everything but thanks for the info

Contact "Japan2LA" on the forums here. He sells engines and has a 30-day start-up guarantee on all of his engines.

Sounds too good to be true. Here is an exerpt from their website.
BestofJDM Warranty

Every engine is compression tested before shipment, in the exception of some engines like rotary engines: mazda RX-7 13BT, 13BTT, 20B and 7MGE, 7MGTE, and these engines come "as is" and without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied; although we try our best to provide you the best of rotary engine in the market. BestofJDM stands behind its products and offers a warranty of 2 months from the date of invoice on our engines' head and block so that our customers can properly examine, install and test the engine, and make sure it is up to their exacting standards.

personally...I want to see the motor before i buy it. My buddy got hosed on an SR20 for is s13 a couple years ago from TigerEngines and ended up spending $2,200 to get it to what he needed.

I got a 13b from JDMenginezone in North Jersey before... the place seemed a little shady, but the dudes were cool and I got to pick the motor i wanted off the shelf (they had 5 to pick from at the time) all with a garantee... the dude was really trying to get me to take home a 20b haha...

but if you want the best stuff locally... EliteJDM in philly is where its at.... you might pay a little more, but if Nick says its complete and strong... it most certianly is. and he stands behind his motors. He flys to Japan... buys cars, takes them apart with a couple other guys and ships them over.... he drives every car... and his shop is Giant... If he doesnt have it, he can get it.

It seems like a lot of people who buy a used unknown JDM engine end up rebuilding it. The reason I posted that quote up there was the fact that they don't compression test their rotary engines, which is a bad sign. If you go with Japan2LA you won't be disappointed.

old post but I'm currently am running an engine from Best of JDM, shipping was fairly hassle free, the rotors held compression, and there was zero play in the turbo. I'm sure it's just a crap shoot as far as how good of an engine you get from either jp2la or bjdm, but both are probably the best in this category. only downside to the core I sourced from them was it came with all kinds of high end Japanese tuner shit all over it (knight sports ecu/turbo programmer, greddy intercooler business and coolant aspiration tank, oil catch can with un-decipherable jargon all up on and on alternator with mysteriously blue internals) so I had to allocate all kinds of parts to make her run. Best way to budget for it, it assume it is all shit and you are just needing a decent core to start over. That way you are pleasantly surprised when she spits fire like a pissed off teenager
